Questions

What is a startup accelerator?
A startup accelerator is a time-limited program, often around three months, that helps early-stage startups grow through mentoring, investor introductions and often an investment. Most programs run in groups (cohorts) and end with a demo day where founders pitch to investors.
How much equity do accelerators take?
It varies a lot. Of the 71 programs on this list with published terms, 12 take no equity. Each program's page shows its terms as the program publishes them; read the current ones on its own site before you apply. All published terms compared.
When do accelerators take applications?
Some run batches with fixed deadlines. 15 programs on this list have a published deadline still ahead: which ones and when opens with a free account. Others review applications on a rolling basis, such as Antler, a16z Speedrun and AI House (formerly AI2 Incubator). Deadlines move between batches, so check the program's own site before you apply. How long each program takes to answer.
What is the difference between an accelerator and an incubator?
Accelerators run short, structured programs for startups that already have a product or early traction, and they usually invest for equity. Incubators often support earlier ideas over a longer, more flexible period and may offer space and advice rather than money.
How do I get into a startup accelerator?
Programs look for a strong founding team, a large market and proof of progress, such as a working product, users or revenue. Keep your application short and show what you have done so far. Early users from startup directories and communities give you traction to point to.
Can I get the whole list as a file?
Yes: get the full list, all 318 places as an Excel file, with their links, the facts we checked and the date we last checked each one. It comes with a free account: no password, we email you a sign-in link.
