Product Hunt alternatives: where else to launch, with prices and queue times from each site

Free and paid Product Hunt alternatives, with each one's checked price, how long a free launch waits and what skipping costs. Nobody pays to be listed.

By Venture ListPublished Updated Links checked September 2026How we check

Product Hunt is the launch platform most founders try first. It is free, and it is one site and one day. If you want more than one launch, or a launch that does not hang on a single morning, there are other sites built the same way: you submit your product, it gets a launch date, and on that day or that week it sits on a front page with everything else launching.

This guide covers every place on our list tagged "launch platform", Product Hunt included: what each one charges, how long a free launch waits and what it costs to skip the queue. Every number on this page is read from the list when you open it, and every quote links to the page we read it on. We run no launch board and take no money from the places we list.

01The short list

Here they are side by side. The table shows what each poster on the list shows: the kind, the cost, the wait for a free launch or the approval time (or the link type, when a site does not state a time), and the date of our last check. Hover a value to see the full text we read. Each name opens the place's page on the list. A blank cell means we have not found that fact in a short form on the site's own pages.

Most of them hang in room 01 with the startup directories. Launch boards we file with the communities, like CtrlAlt, hang in room 02. 02Product Hunt itself

Start with what Product Hunt's own pages say.

D035Product HuntCost

“Is Product Hunt free? Yes. It's 100% free to use.”

Our reading: Free

producthunt.com/launch (the page we read it on, opens in a new tab)read 29 Sep 2026Product Hunt on the list

Two more details from its help page on posting (opens in a new tab). You need a personal account: company accounts cannot post a product. And you can schedule the launch for a future date; the site runs on 24-hour days in Pacific time, so a scheduled post goes live at 12:01 AM PST.

That makes a Product Hunt launch a date you pick and one day of attention. The rest of this guide is about what you can line up around it.

03Free, but you wait

12 of the 19 launch platforms on the list say in their own words that a launch is free. Apart from Product Hunt, where you pick the day, a free launch usually means a queue, and the site sells a way past it.

D038UneedCost

“Yes. Submitting is free, and so is the waiting line: we assign your launch date automatically, between 30 days and 5 months out.”

Our reading: Free; $14.99 fast-track; $29.99 to skip the line

uneed.best/faqs (the page we read it on, opens in a new tab)read 30 Sep 2026Uneed on the list

Our reading adds Uneed's two paid options, a fast-track and a skip of the line. Its pricing page sets one more condition on the free line: "An upvote score of 10 to stay published, 20 for the do-follow backlink." Both quotes are on Uneed's page on the list.

The other boards work on the same model: a free queue, and a payment to pick your date or skip ahead. The older ones, DevHunt and Awesome Indie, state waits of months. The boards we added in September 2026, such as Launch Llama, Fazier, PeerPush, TinyLaunch and Tiny Startups, mostly state weeks, and Smol Launch caps its free slots each week instead. Startup Base and CtrlAlt give a free launch a date from a queue without saying how long it is.

The longest stated free queue on the list is on a board that calls itself this:

D157OpenHuntsIn their words

“The Product Hunt alternative for tiny startups. Launch your tech product to boost SEO visibility, earn high-DR backlinks, and reach thousands of early adopters.”

openhunts.com (the page we read it on, opens in a new tab)read 30 Sep 2026OpenHunts on the list

The approval column in the table shows the wait each site gives in short form. How long a free launch waits sets out every queue in the site's own words, longest first, with what it costs to skip it; OpenHunts' is the first one there. Most of the skip prices, with the page we read them on, are also on the members' free directories page.

Free queues are also why the order of your launches matters: see plan the dates backwards below.

04Uneed alternatives

Uneed works like most boards on this list: a free line where Uneed picks your date, and a payment to move up or skip it. So the alternative depends on what you want to change.

  • Pick your own day, for free. On Product Hunt the launch is free and you schedule the date yourself.
  • Launch in a weekly batch. Peerlist Launchpad opens a launch window every Monday; weekly launches covers the other boards that run by the week.
  • Same model, a shorter queue. Every free board above has its own wait, from weeks to more than a year. How long a free launch waits lists each queue, longest first, with what it costs to skip.
  • A followed link without the vote count. Uneed's free launch keeps its followed link only above an upvote score, and it isn't alone: on Awesome Indie "The link to your website is nofollow until your product passes 20 upvotes", and several weekly boards give a link only to their top three or top five. Where a link matters, check each place's link type before you pay; a paid launch is the usual way to a guaranteed one.

How Uneed and Product Hunt compare, term by term, is in Uneed vs Product Hunt.

05Weekly launches

A few boards launch in weekly batches rather than daily ones. Peerlist Launchpad, in its help pages: "Launch window opens on Monday every week. The launch continues for a week." You launch from a verified individual Peerlist profile. OpenHunts, Tiny Startups and Smol Launch also run weekly, and Nick Launches is a weekly board for indie builders; we have not found a price or a wait on its own pages yet.

A week on the board is more time to be seen, and more launches to be seen next to.

Not every launch platform has a free option.

D010Beta ListCost

“No. BetaList used to offer free submissions, but all submissions now require payment.”

Our reading: Paid only; full refund if not selected

betalist.com/support (the page we read it on, opens in a new tab)read 30 Sep 2026Beta List on the list

This is worth knowing because some lists of Product Hunt alternatives still give Beta List a free queue: one published in June 2026 (opens in a new tab) lists it as "Free queue (paid expedite)". Beta List's own support page, quoted above, says all submissions now require payment; the same page promises a full refund if your startup is not selected. When two pages disagree, go by the site's own.

For Micro Launch, the price we found is its paid Launch Pro plan. The cost column shows it, and its page on the list has the full text. LaunchIgniter is close: the price we found is its paid Basic launch, which skips the queue, though its pricing page also says "Every free launch is reviewed manually before it goes live."

Three directories that work much like launch sites, Early, Website Hunt and Indie Tool, also have a paid plan or a paid fast track as the price we found. Early's price text adds that a listing is free if its editors pick it. What the paid-only directories charge, and which of them refund you, is in paid startup directories.

07How to choose

Four questions sort most of this list.

Free or paid. A free launch costs you time in a queue. A paid one mostly buys a date. If your launch day is fixed, because of a release or a post you have planned elsewhere, count the fee in or pick places with a short wait.

Approval. Some sites give you a date from a queue, some review each submission before it goes live, some hold a fixed number of free slots a week, and some publish within a day, for a fee. Plan the order of your launches around the approval column, not around the day you submit.

Audience. Pick the places whose users look like yours. DevHunt describes itself as a launchpad for dev tools, built by developers for developers; where to launch a developer tool covers it with the developer communities. An AI tool has its own directories: see AI tool directories. Beta List and Early are about startups before or around launch, and Betabound offers "a free announcement of your beta testing opportunity" on its homepage, so they suit a product with a waiting list or a beta more than one that has been out for years; where to find beta users covers that stage. Awesome Indie ranks the indie products launching that day. And if people can try your product right now, Show HN is, in Hacker News' own words, for something you've made that other people can play with (opens in a new tab).

Backlinks and badges. If a link matters to you, check the link type on each place's page before you pay. Some sites give a followed link to every launch, some only to paid launches, some only after enough upvotes, and several of the weekly boards only to the week's top three or top five. A free slot on some of the newer boards also asks for their badge on your site. Our guide Do startup directories help SEO? quotes what Google says about both.

08Plan the dates backwards

Because free queues run for months, pick your dates first and submit in reverse order: the longest queue first, so the slow ones are already moving while you prepare the rest. If one launch has to land on a set day, that is the one to pay for. To launch in several places in the same week, pay for a date on the boards with long queues, or submit to them early and time the rest around the dates they give you. The launch plan guide lays it out week by week.

Put a short tagline, a one-paragraph description, your logo, a few screenshots and your website address in one document before you start, and you can work through the forms much faster.

Add the places you pick to your launch plan with the + on each poster, and mark each one submitted and live as you go. Here are a dozen of the launch platforms, the older boards and the newer ones:

09Places that no longer work

Launch sites come and go. In our 2026 link check, 20 of the 375 launch links we checked, from our list and our research list, were dead, parked or showing spam.

Among the places we removed from the list: Launched, Indie Hunting and Futurehurry no longer resolve, and Hackerspad and Fiddy now show gambling spam. Each removal is in the changelog. We print their names without links on purpose.

10How we checked

Each poster in this guide shows the date of its last link check, and the line under the headline gives the oldest of them. A check follows the link to where it ends up and flags dead, parked, for-sale and spam pages. A place is hidden after three failed checks in a row.

The prices, wait times and link types come from each site's own pages, with the page and the exact words: that is what the quotes above are. We read the older boards on 29 September 2026 and the newer ones on 30 September 2026. If we did not find a fact on the site itself, we do not show it. Nobody pays to be listed or to appear in a guide. Read how we check for the details.

11Questions

What is the best alternative to Product Hunt?

It depends on your product and your deadline. DevHunt is built for developer tools. If you can wait, Uneed, DevHunt, Awesome Indie, Startup Base and several newer boards such as Fazier, Smol Launch and OpenHunts have free launches; if you need a date soon, their paid options let you pick one. We do not rank them by results, because we do not measure the traffic a launch brings.

Are there free alternatives to Product Hunt?

Yes. Many launch platforms on our list have a free launch in their own words, among them Uneed, DevHunt, Awesome Indie, Startup Base and Fazier. Free usually means a queue where the site picks your date, and on some boards a badge on your site or enough upvotes for a followed link. Beta List has no free launch. The table in this guide shows each one's cost.

What are the alternatives to Uneed?

Most boards on our list work the same way, with a free queue and a payment to pick a date or skip ahead: DevHunt, Awesome Indie, Startup Base, Fazier and Launch Llama among them. If the wait is the problem, Product Hunt is free and lets you schedule the day, and Peerlist Launchpad opens a launch window every Monday. The table in this guide shows each board's cost and stated wait.

Is Product Hunt still worth launching on?

We cannot tell you what a launch will bring: we do not measure traffic or sales. Product Hunt's own pages say it is free to use and that you choose the day, so the cost is the day itself and the work to prepare it. The table in this guide shows what you can line up around it.

What time does a Product Hunt launch go live?

At 12:01 AM Pacific time on the day you scheduled. Product Hunt's help page says the site runs on 24-hour days in PST.
